A tranquil retreat from the flurry of Tokyo

A few hours west of Tokyo by Shinkansen, I’m transported to a wholly different side of Japan in Kyoto. Temples and shrines are nestled in beautifully ornate and traditional streets. I travel to beautiful Arashiyama, taking in the breathaking sights of the Bamboo Grove, the stunning Fushimi Inari Taisha temple, and take a train south to Nara, where I meet some very friendly deer.
